SKIN, the largest organ of the human body. I’ll never forget one time I was reading an article about Olivia Munn (because let’s be honest, she’s pretty flawless) and she said “you may regret the money you spend on things, but you’ll never regret the money you spend on skin.” TRUE OLIVIA, SO TRUE.
My mom conditioned me to learn about skincare when I was young, and whether or not I actually took something from it was really my own fault. I was always pretty good about my skin and taking care of it, apart from the drunk nights in college…and maybe beyond where I forgot to wash my face when I came home from a night out. I absolutely dread my seemingly long regimen some nights but never regret once I do it. Stick to your routine!
Let’s be real and talk about some things people don’t really address, like blackheads. That’s been my biggest struggle my whole life, I got my big pores from my momma amongst some other things. My biggest skincare issues were:
- Adolescent acne
In the last couple of months, I got really into skincare and actually investing in what I was putting on my face. I love collaborations and trying new brands, but when it comes to my skin I like using reputable brands that I can stand behind and trust. Also, skincare is sometimes hard to navigate and it’s all dependent on your skin type. I get really overwhelmed with the products and end up buying things I don’t need because I’m at Sephora and everything is so pretty. I mean, everything and I end up convincing myself that I need it all…and I do not. I’ve narrowed down products through a lot of trials and tribulations and my skin has never looked better (it took all of 28 years to figure it out)!
DAILY – Cleanser – this cleanser is gentle + foaming, which I really like seeing foam. Sometimes, with gel only cleansers I feel like there is a residue left. This one does NOT do that.
DAILY (NIGHT) – This facial oil + glycolic night serum combo is lethal for elasticity. I put this on both my face and my neck (to avoid turkey neck, duh) and my neck is SO TIGHT. I’ve heard so many great things about this company and I am seriously obsessed and know you would be too. I’m also convinced these two are making my lashes grow, and I’m not complaining!
DAILY (NIGHT) – This moisturizer is a little bit heavier than most, which is why I like using it at night to soak in while I’m sleeping and doesn’t feel like it absorbs and then does nothing. They also have a lightweight option linked here.
DAILY (NIGHT) – Everyone needs a good eye cream, it’s arguably one of the most important products in your routine. I feel like with stress, lack of sleep, age, and nutrition have a huge impact on having hollow eyes or eye bags. I’ve experienced both, and love this one.
DAILY (NIGHT) – I recently got this lip mask and am so impressed with how well it works. You put it on your lips overnight, and in the morning your lips feel like pillows. I have a problem of mouth breathing (weird, yeah I know) and my lips are ALWAYS dry. This baby is an absolute game changer.
DAILY (MORNING) – This day serum is loaded with vitamin C and gives you that “I may not look awake but at least my skin does” feel. It does not disappoint.
DAILY (MORNING) – SPF SPF SPF! It is so important to use a moisturizer that has SPF in it, whether you’re in the sun or not, you’re being exposed to UV rays…yes, even if it’s shady. Protect your skin from the sun!
WEEKLY – this is probably my favorite product ever. EVER, and that’s a bold statement. I’ve been looking for something that tightens and firms, and have tried so many products that are more affordable and insanely expensive but this one hands down is the best. Everyone who tries this mask loves it and wonders why they haven’t used it before. Do it. I typically do this on Sundays as a reset to my skin, leave it on for 20 minutes then rinse with toner / water.
WEEKLY – I alternate between these two masks depending on what I need. This mask is very balmy, highly effective in moisturizing which you leave on overnight. Also, their branding is phenomenal. This mask is almost like putting jelly on your face, is an exfoliant, gives you more of a glow and you leave it on for five minutes. I typically use this mid-week and will use whichever my skin needs more.
AS NEEDED – I’ve used this product a few times for blackheads and it’s a super funny process. First off, it’s $12 from a reputable brand. Second, it’s legitimately silver and you put it on just your problem areas. It recommended using cotton I think but I grabbed an old makeup brush I don’t use, cleaned it and dab a little bit of water then dip it in the powder. It works, but make sure that you steam or take a hot shower to open your pores before.
AS NEEDED – I love this plumper and use it as a primer when I have that “I went out last night and my face is sinking” look. It plumps, need I say more?
ORGANIZE – I bought this $15 organizer from Amazon and am so happy how it turned out! It was a little bit of a headache to put together but with some help from my boyfriend we got it built and immediately I wanted to put everything on it! It comes in multiple sizes and a few styles if you want something a little more fancy.

I know it sounds like a lot but trust me when I say that the earlier you start and the more regimented you get, the better your skin will look as you age. I get compliments all the time when I’m wearing just mascara and am so glad to finally have found a combo that works! I would LOVE to hear what your favorite products are too!
